4 Office Printing Trends for 2019 that You Can’t Ignore

Although paper will still remain in the workplace in 2019, we can expect to see businesses begin to approach office printing differently over the next 12 months. Here are the emerging office printing trends of 2019 to be aware of:

  1. Enhanced Print Security – With data theft on the rise, cybersecurity is top of mind for most businesses. The most obvious reason why print devices are attractive for cyber criminals is that their hard drives often store sensitive data. However, thieves also target print devices as they can provide network access in the same way that other IoT-type devices do.
  2. More Print and Digital Integrated Workflows – While the idea of a paperless workplace is appealing for many business owners, it may not be realistic–yet. Paper will still continue to play a role with the need for physical signatures, receipt of paper communications, and customer preferences for paper. However, in the coming year, we can expect to see a blend of print and digital workflows to help streamline operations.
  3. Cloud-Delivered MPS Becomes More Prominent – While cloud-delivered MPS is not new, it will become more prominent in 2019. With this technology, SMBs will be able to access mobile, document workflow, and security technology that they may not have been able to afford previously. When integrating the cloud with smart MFP technology, SMBs can benefit from cost-effective solutions for secure content management, collaboration, storage, retrieval, distribution, and more. Given these benefits, we can expect that there will be an increased demand for cloud-delivered MPS, and even traditional MPS providers will expand their services into the cloud.
  4. More Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Workplace – In an effort to increase efficiency, businesses will look for opportunities to leverage AI in the workplace. One way that we saw AI used in the workplace in 2018 was the addition of voice recognition capabilities on some smart printers. We can expect to see this type of technology expand even further in the print space in 2019.
