The PGCA’s Franklin Event, to be held on March 30, 2023, is a celebration of the print and graphic communications industry and its commitment to the Mariano Rivera Foundation and workforce development initiatives. The event will honor six leading companies for their leadership roles in connecting the mission of the Mariano Rivera Foundation (MRF) to provide education and economic opportunity to young people in underserved communities, with the critical industry need to develop tomorrow’s workforce.
The Mariano Rivera Foundation was established in 2018 by former New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera to provide education and economic opportunity to young people in underserved communities. The Foundation’s mission is to create a better future for the next generation of leaders. The Foundation works to accomplish this mission through a variety of programs and initiatives, including workforce development initiatives. The mission of the Mariano Rivera Foundation is closely aligned with the goals of the Print & Graphic Communications Association. The Association is dedicated to the advancement of the industry and the development of the next generation of print professionals. To further their common mission, the Association and the Mariano Rivera Foundation have partnered to create a practical, hands–on curriculum that will provide graduates with a multitude of industry skills, including Fiery certification at the conclusion of their training.
The six “Print Industry Champions” being honored at the Franklin Event are Atlantic Tomorrow’s Office, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, EFI, Premium Color Group, and Fiery. These companies have collaborated with the Mariano Rivera Foundation to develop the curriculum, and have provided resources, creativity, technical knowledge, and connections to bridge the gap between the Mariano Rivera Foundation’s vision and the print and graphic communications industry needs.
The Franklin Event will provide an opportunity for attendees to recognize these companies for their commitment to workforce development initiatives, as well as to honor Mariano Rivera for his commitment to the Mariano Rivera Foundation. The event will also feature additional industry awards, plenty of networking opportunities with industry leaders, and a presentation of the Franklin Award for Community Service to Mariano Rivera. Net revenue from sponsorships, ticket sales, and additional fundraising will be donated to the Mariano Rivera Foundation to support their workforce development activities.
